- Clean the area of both sides of the tear with the alcohol swabs. This simple but important step will ensure the canopy is free of oils and dirt and will ensure adhesion of the Glufix and Fiberfix.
- Once the canopy is dry and clean, place the Fiberfix over the tear. There are seven different colors in the multicoloured Fiberfix. We have found that one of these colors will match up with most kite canopy colors. Hint: The cleanest and most aesthetic place to put the Fiberfix and Gluefix is on the underside of the kite (the side you look at when flying the kite).
- With the provided applicator, apply a coat of Glufix to completely cover the Fiberfix. Hint: If you want the repair to be cleaner, tape off the area around the tear with painters tape or electrical tape. If you do this, carefully remove the tape as soon as you have applied the Gluefix.
- After about 20 minutes, or when the Gluefix is completely dry, apply another coat of Glufix on the other side of the tear. Let the kite sit until the Gluefix is dry and you are ready to ride.
You will be able to permanently repair any size of canopy tear following these steps using Glufix and Fiberfix which is included in the Kitefix complete kit, Kitefix mini-kit, and Kitefix Ripstop refill kit (note that each kit has enough Glufix and Fiberfix to repair a canopy tear 48” long. For longer tears, you will need to purchase additional Kitefix Ripstop refill kits).
