Yes, they are here, the all new O’Neill Psycho III wetsuits.
The Psycho III builds on and heavily improves on the ever popular and long lasting Pyscho II. For O’Neill to retire one of their best selling wetsuits for something new, it better measure up! The Psycho III doesn’t just measure up, it exceeds expectations.
So, what changed?
Don’t worry, it’s still a double sealed seam (inside and out). The inside seam is a little thicker and wider than the outside seam.
Here’s the lowdown on what’s new:
1. Reduced FSW width. O’Neill decreased the width of the Fluid Seam Weld (FSW) by 60% percent on the new 2013 Psycho 3 wetsuits. This 60% reduction in width has resulted in more stretch in the seams, which is where the stretch is most restricted in all wetsuits.
2. TechnoButter Neoprene. It’s lighter and has more stretch. 17% lighter and absorbs 30% less water. How much lighter is it really? Get his, I weighed the men’s size large in a 3/2 and it weighed 2.55lbs – unreal.
Combine those two benefits, with the new XDS-Air and you’ve got a wetsuit that’s lighter, more flexible and warmer than any Psycho 2 ever made.
Bottom Line:
The new 2013 O’Neill Psycho 3 wetsuit is going to be just about as flexible as the Pscyho 1 wetsuit and that’s a unreal.
Best use:
The pyscho II has always had an excellent heritage for kitesurfers and surfers alike, and the Psycho III is no exception, an excellent upgrade for any suit out there! Super light and super warm!
Cold water and chilly to cold air temp for the 3/2 and just plain cold for the 4/3. Colder and Northern areas around there will probably want to stay with the 4/3, it’s better to be warm than cold and the 4/3 feels more like a 3/2 anyway. Water temps down into the lower 15s and I would stick with the 3/2. With all the new features, this suit should be the primary suit you wear all season.
