S2AS Team Rider Vanessa Procter has had a busy few months! Out in the States she has found a new love for snowkiting (everyone really should try it!) but the best news is she has just got herself sponsodred by Mercedes-Benz who have given her a brand new Vito Sport X for her 10 day trip kitesurfing benbecula in Scotland for the RAF Champs in May.
Here is what Vanessa has to say:
Have you ever imagined yourself driving a van? All that space for your gear, from kites to mountain bikes, a sheltered place to change after a chilly session on the water, or even a cooker for a full English on a Sunday morning after a cosy night in bed? Pull up at any kite or surf dwelling beach these days and I can guarantee you will find at least half a dozen vans parked up. People living the dream, fully equipped with their weekend home on wheels… Ok so they don’t all have beds, but a lot of them will be filled with toys. Long gone are the days when all van drivers were assigned ‘white van man’ status, these days there is a new breed of van, the surfer dude. Vans offer a whole new level of practicality for all us sport addicts from storage for all our toys to a life style status.
I fully accept that for some, vans just aren’t the life style people want to project. I normally buzz around the country in a Mitisbushi L200. The back is fully kitted out with board storage and ideal for wet kites, dripping wetsuits and BBQs on the tailgate. I have a Maxi rack on the back for the mountain bikes and a decent sound systems to pass the hours on the tarmac spent chasing wind, rocks and muddy trails.
However, as a person open to change, I am incredibly excited about testing out the Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport-X. In May I will be heading to Benbecula, in the Scottish outer Hebrides for 10 days kite surfing with the RAF Power Kiting Association. The annual RAF Champs will be held during the week, and Mercedes-Benz have been gem enough to offer up their top of the range 3.0 litre 224hp top of the range Vito Sport-X to take me there in style.
Stay tuned for Vito Sport-X updates.
